Release 1.3.5 - February 2015 - Latest Release

Added Photographer Button, colored image background, blurr background on fancybox, and revamped Pinterest gallery style.

Release 1.3.4 - February 2015

Fixed several minor issues. Refer to CHANGES.txt file inside skin folder for details.

Release 1.3.1 - April 2014 - Current Release

Fixed Ambilight to faithfully capture dominant color at top and bottom of image.

Release 1.3 - April 2014

Code named: Infinite Ambilight.

The 1.3 release added the following options:

  • Ambilight for Lightbox: Rather than a dull black translucent background around the lightboxed image, Cement now displays a subtle gradient between the two dominant colors of the image.
  • Infinite Scroll: Rather than paging with traditional page navitation links (previous, next, first page, page 1, 2, 3...), jump to a modern infinite scroll that will load your pages as you scroll down.
  • Font Awesome: Rather than loading numerous images as icons, or rather than loading a page of fixed size, fixed colors sprites, Cement now use standard Font Awesome icons, out of a single font file and its stylesheet. "Icons" can now be scaled up and down, and colored at will through the style sheet or jQuery.
Release 1.2.3 - Dec. 2013

Gallery comments now also extracted from jAlbum albumDescription and description fields.

Main content is now always centered on page, except in a few Isotope layouts.

Corrected a few (css) styling issues.

Use of video player is now by default.

Star rating is now a set of text star characters rather than an image (easier to restyle to your liking).

Star rating added to comment field as an option.

Tested on iPads.

Release 1.2.2 - Dec. 2013

Developer release only. Skipped. Never distributed.

Release 1.2.1 - Dec. 2013

Added alternate style sheet.

Release 1.2.0 - Nov. 2013

Code name Tribute to David DeSandro or Metafizzy Galore.

Features
Library Switch

Choose from the following layout library:

Each library exhibit unique features and subtle layout adjustments. Isotope library add a whole set of arrangement features. Read on.

Isotope Library Extras

Copying David DeSandro's demo site, I added buttons similar to his to

  • Choose the layout option from Masonry, Row Fit, or Straight Down...
  • Organize images by name, date, rating, or at random.
  • Select thumbnails that are shown in multimedia galleries: Images, videos, or galleries.
Playful Library

Added the playful library with ability to drag thumbnails around and rearrange them to your liking. Click on a thumbnail to enlarge it "in place". Click on it to restore its thumbnail size. And all this is fully fluid.

This setup disable all other skin options and is provided as an interactive goodie rather than an additional option.

Options Ribbon

Ability to propose an options ribbon to viewer to allow them to customize the skin to their liking. Options ribbon can be disabled in option panel (it is the default value).

The Options Ribbon offers fewer options than the jAlbum Cement Skin option tab.

Styling

I removed options to set album title size and font weight. In fact, I removed all styling options from jAlbum option dialogs. jAlbum option dialogs only sets "structural" options and displays.

Styling is left to the end user. I provide a viable style sheet, but the end user is free to overwrite with his or her personal preference. To do so, all pages using this skin load a custom.css style sheet that is not part of the skin. A template custom.css.template is provided with a sample adjustment for album font. End-user is free to overwrite all style in the custom.css file; styles defined in that file won't be overwritten when new albums or galleries are added.

Image Information

Rating is appended to comments. I notice that comments are mostly empty, so adding rating to it adds a little life to this text. I requested, I can add a flag to only do this on demand.

It is possible to select from Title, Comment, and EXIF data which information is automatically displayed with images, either in thumbnail lists or fancyboxed images.

Known Issues
Isotope Options

Some isotope options, or combination of options, sometimes leads to wild layout of thumbnail images. For example, selecting "Order by name", and "fitColumns" layout places thumbnail in an uncontrolled arrangement.

I cannot do much about these issues. Please choose other options, or combinations of options. First try to reload the page. Options are saved into a cookie and are restored on page load. So if the layout became wild after changes, simply try to reload the page. If it does not solve the issue, change the sort criteria or the layout mode relayout thumbnails nicely.

Cement Skin Options Ribbon

Sometimes, on some browsers, enabling or disabling options destroys the layout temporarily. A quick fix is to simply "reload" the page and thumbnails will be arranged nicely.

Styling

A 4 to 10px gap sometimes appears under each thumbnail image. Sometimes, just refreashing the page get rid of this gap. Please note that the gutter around images in Packery layout is by design!

Release 1.1.0 - Sept. 2013

First attempt at displaying video with flowplayer. You must turn the use of the video player explicitely in Cement's fancybox settings (Use video player).

To get a Pinterest-like image gallery with some images larger than other, add the parameter cement_width to each individual image you want to stand out and give it the value 2 or 3 (no other value allowed for now). The skin will generate additional thumbnails with larger sizes and use them in the gallery.

Release 1.0.1 - Sept. 2013

Minor corrections. Not released.

Release 1.0.0 - Sept. 2013

This skin displays videos Video integration works but is far from perfect. I will try to integrate a simple, basic, HTML5 video viewer into fancybox.

This skin is multilingual - click to get strings to translate Internationalisation is working in French only. Please submit the following translations and I will integrate them in a next release. Thank you.
